Denial and Acceptance of Alzheimer's Diagnosis
Letter to the Editor
Lori Messenger is absolutely right that acceptance is the key to a better life while living with, and enduring Alzheimer's. I have found for myself that grieving each functional loss, and working my way through the Grief Curve to acceptance, as quickly as I can leads to a more joyful life. When I stay in denial, I find myself getting scared, angry and depressed. Which not only hurts me, but the people I love, too. I got defensive of anyone pointing out my speech and odd behavior, and I would attack them verbally - which causes everyone problems. Had I stayed in denial at diagnosis, I would be worse now because I would not have gotten on the Namenda and Razadyne so quickly. The meds have helped me so much.

Consumers Buying Risky Drugs Online
(Source: FDA) - A year-long FDA investigation into drugs mailed to the United States from foreign countries suggests that consumers are buying drugs online to avoid the need for a prescription from their physician. The report indicates that consumers are buying potentially risky drug products, which may not contain the correct or safe ingredients. Further more, taking some of these drugs without being monitored by a physician can be dangerous.

People with Memory Loss Speak for Themselves
Letter to the Editor
It is with the encouragement of voices like Rich [Bozanich] and Jay [Smith] that give me encouragement to continue the urgency of our own local and regional chapters in each state to support a conference as the one in LA.
